Things to do in Ripley & Surrounds

Looking forward to exploring your new neighbourhood at Montview?

We are busting to show off our favourite places to eat, shop and be entertained. Read on for recommendations from the Montview team, starting with something delicious!

Get busy in your new kitchen at Montview and impress friends and family with a new specialty dish. Ipswich Brew Co. is your one stop shop for everything homemade. Here you can find everything you need to make your own cider, wine, cheese, sausages, kombucha, the list goes on! Want to learn to make your own beer? Jump into a class and learn the art from the experts. Includes a follow up class where you can bottle and take home your brew.

Prefer to relax with something already brewed? At Pumpyard Bar & Brewery. sample craft beer with great food in the grounds of the c1800s water pumphouse. We recommend ordering the ginger beer!  Lunch or dinner with friends and family at Brookwater Golf & Country Club is always a crowd pleaser, made even more enjoyable by the impressive view of the fairway. The Greg Norman designed, 18-hole course is surrounded by gum trees and they have a driving range too.

For the active, get fit and make new friends at Parkrun, a free, timed 5km running group. Held every Saturday morning, take your pick from several Parkrun courses in the area. Close to Montview, Ecco Ripley Parkrun is a road run down near the Town Centre, while White Rock Parkrun is a trail run through White Rock-Spring Mountain Conservation Estate. Of course, living at Montview you can explore the various trails and enjoy the views from the lookouts anytime you like.

Those with small children, get ready for some fun on your playground tour of the area! Aside from planning our very own park and walking trails here at Montview, we are spoilt for choice with an exciting range of playgrounds close to home. From water splash parks to adventure playgrounds, entertainment for the little ones is nice and close to home.

The family will love the Aqua Park at Robelle Domain Parklands. Complete with waterfalls, slides and a massive water tipping bucket. For bigger kids and adults alike, cool down in one of the pools at Orion Lagoon. Make a day of it, with BBQ’s, plenty of shade and space for all.

Calling all train enthusiasts! We highly recommend a visit to Workshops Rail Museum in Ipswich, a fantastic day out for all ages. Step inside an old carriage from the 1800’s or drive a modern fast train on a simulator! There are model railways, Trackside café and a lovely gift shop to wander though. There’s plenty of space for little ones to explore, and we hear Thomas the Tank Engine makes a special visit each year.

If you prefer to ride a moving train, experience the atmosphere of a steam train ride at Pioneer Heritage Railway.  Kick back and watch the scenery go past from inside the carriage as the steam locomotive lets out a slow whistle.

Once a month and just down the road, wander through Ripley Markets with over 60 stalls and live music. Make sure you go with an empty stomach! We also love the shops at Ripley Town Centre for gifts and food. Look out for the yummy Banh Mi and the eco homewares store, two of our favourites. Or for everything under one roof, shop ‘til you drop at Orion Springfield Central and stay for dinner at the Orion Hotel.

These are just a few things to look forward to at Montview, a home where life’s renewed.
